“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.” – Jesus’ words as recorded in Mark 14:38
In the scripture above, Jesus was speaking to his disciples after finding them asleep rather than praying in the garden of Gethsemane. We may not face persecution because of our faith as he told them they would, but we sometimes face other struggles that can wear us down: sickness, jobs, relationships and even in roles of ministry.
Remember all that Jesus endured during his ministry here on earth and on the cross; suffering for God’s will and for our salvation? All of that was for US!
We do not have to live enslaved to sin and the evils of the world. We can be free from the condemnation of sin, overcome struggles and resist temptation (Phillippians 4) through Jesus when we give our lives to Him.
Who has your life: the world or Jesus?
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” – John 3:17-18
