We tend to think love is an emotion. But love is an action. God is the source of love; love in action. He sacrificed his only son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Therefore, Jesus is the greatest example of love. He lived, He died, and He rose for US.
When we accept God’s gift of salvation, we also inherit that same love power; we can love selflessly through the Holy Spirit. We are commanded to use that power to love one and serve one another.
Do we act in love?
It is easy to confess our love for God by going to church once a week or quoting a Bible verse once in a while. But real love in action (or not) is how we treat the people God places in our lives; family members, friends, church family and even strangers. The Bible says we cannot truly love God if we cannot truly love those who are created in His image.
How are you loving today? Are you loving through the true Source of love?
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another…And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
