The Fallen Angel

Our modern Christian culture embraces that Satan is evil and out to make life hard for us. However, there is little discussion about why. We do not hear much about Satan and his vengeance to God, nor do we hear much about God’s vengeance and wrath on Satan and the evils of this world.

Why is Satan at war with God?

Why is Satan trying to take God’s people away from Him?

Why does Satan portray the evils of the world as being virtuous and righteous?

The reason is pride. Satan wants to be God.

At one time, Satan was the highest of all angels, but he wanted to be higher than God – to rule the universe. As a result of his pride and rebellion, God cast him out of heaven.

Satan and other fallen angels under his lead rebel against God and invisibly affect our physical world, but they are still under God’s control. Of course, this reality makes Satan even more crazy and vengeful. He wants to be God. Therefore, he poses as an angel of light and tries to deceive us just as he did Eve in the Garden of Eden. (1 Peter 5:8-10)

While, Satan has power of evil and the air, his power is limited. Born again believers do not have to fear Satan’s power – Jesus is on our side. However, we must be wise to recognize and resist Satan’s charms.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. – Ephesians 6:10-13

The only way to have authority over Satan’s power is through Jesus Christ. Born-again believers have God’s armor against Satan and the promise of eternal security. Those who are not saved do not – they will perish with Satan. (John 3:16)

God’s holy word tells us the ending. Where will you be when the final curtain goes down?
