disciples Good News Kingdom of God

We Have a Big Job to Do

Have you ever daydreamed of being part of something global, something for a good cause, something with a purpose?

Well, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you ARE part of something big! It is something larger than our minds can fully comprehend without faith through the Holy Spirit. The Kingdom of God! As a born-again believer of Jesus, you are part of the Kingdom of God here and now, because Jesus lives in your heart. Your purpose is to help build the Kingdom of God by telling others how Jesus came to save us from our sins and give us eternal life; the Good News!

But how can you and I have a global impact? Most likely, we cannot. But, if each one us is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to those around us, within our reach, we are part of a wave that will touch another wave and on and on. Consider the ripple effect on a lake or river; waves touch each other from a single center ripple. That is how the Good News is spread, even since the days Jesus called his disciples. From the beginning of His ministry, Jesus said “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17); His message is unchanged today.

And Jesus never said sharing the gospel would be easy. Others might laugh or scoff at you when telling them about Jesus or they may walk away from you, but that is okay. It’s all about Jesus, not us.  If you recall the history of His ministry here on the earth, Jesus was mocked and scorned, for teaching the gospel and for serving others. The Bible also tells us about Paul, James, John the Baptist, and Stephen who were all persecuted because of their faith. Even today, Christians across the world are, and have been, persecuted for sharing the Good News of Jesus. But these people did it for Jesus’ glory not their own. Why?  Because Jesus died for our glory not His own when He died on the cross. Our glory being everlasting life in our eternal home with Him.

Born again children of God, we have been commissioned by Jesus to tell others about Him and invite them to enter the Kingdom of God through Jesus. It’s our responsibility!

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
