One of my favorite things to do is to attend Christian women’s conferences. And, why not? More corporate worship time, more time to study God’s word, more time with my girlfriends.
But it’s more than that. It’s an intimate time of prayer and worship for women. The Bible teachers teach the Word of God and show us how to apply it to our lives. All parts of our lives, even the messy parts not typically talked about at church and the average weekly Bible study.
Women from all walks of life gather for a weekend to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus. And from our different walks, we bring all sorts of excess baggage with us: tired bodies, weary souls, lost souls, illnesses, broken hearts, scars of abuse, pride, jealousy, bitterness, unforgiveness, and fear. And the list goes on.
For a few hours, we can come together, without public judgement condemnation, and run to Jesus and bare our souls and woes to Him. We can trade our excess baggage for salvation, healing, forgiveness, and/or refreshment. However, we must take that first step.
Run to Jesus – He is already there!
Oh, the complete joy of restoration through the love and of Jesus! But after the event is over and we go back to our lives, the real battle begins. Satan knows he was defeated at the conference. He is going to retaliate but he doesn’t have to win. We left our baggage at Jesus’ feet. (Here’s our second step.) We cannot pick it back up! We must hold on to Jesus a little harder and live free. We need fellowship and prayer time with godly friends. We need to hold each other accountable.
We CAN live free with Jesus every day. We CAN have joy and worship with Jesus every day.
Run to Jesus every day – He is already there!
“…be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil…. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one…”– Ephesians 6:10, 16
