Boldness for Him

Ridicule. Slander. Harassment. Contempt. Mockery.

These are just a few of the deep cuts a servant’s heart can experience while serving God and others.

Not everyone is going to celebrate what we are called by God to do for the expansion of His kingdom. And that is okay. Our suffering is nothing compared to how Jesus suffered for us. When we are fully surrendered to God, we can suddenly see new dreams and ambitions born within our hearts by Him. And we can accomplish those dreams through Him.

As a Christ follower, it is my heart’s deepest desire to serve Him and others as He leads me. When we ask God to show us how to serve Him, the ways and places He reveals are amazing. In the different seasons of my life, God has led me to serve in very different roles: children’s ministries, teaching, choir, serving seniors, etc. None of which I was pre-qualified to do!  Now I serve full-time in my home as a stay-at-home Nana and wife, and my outreach service is sharing Jesus with others through writing and speaking.

Where ever God has called you and I to serve, He has a specific responsibility for each of us. He never promised it would be easy. There will be naysayers, imitators, and the ones who will try to discredit us and our purpose. But, He did promise He would equip us with what we need to get the job done and He would be with us every step of the way.

We must remember it is not about us; it is about HIM. We must trust Him. And, we must be bold in love toward others, and in our service for Him; asking the Holy Spirit to guide us each moment of the day so that all we do, honors and glorifies God.

“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began” – 2 Timothy 1:7-9

Worth the Wait

Everywhere we go, there seems to be a time of waiting: car line at school, at the bank, at the grocery store, doctor’s office, etc.  For me, waiting during some of those times can be very hard (especially a doctor’s office). I tend to think about all the other things I could be doing or other errands I could be on. As a result, I become irritated and impatient which will no doubt affect my overall experience.

Sound familiar?

I have prayed about this and I have asked God into all the details of my life. So now when I consider my day’s schedule, I realize I will probably have to wait at certain times. What better time to talk to God? Pray through the wait! If we wait with joy and patience, when it’s finally our turn, the experience will be much better.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him to the soul who seeks him.” – Lamentations 3:2

But what about when we’re waiting for God? Maybe you’ve been praying about something and you’re still waiting for God to answer that prayer. I’ve been in that season of waiting, also. And it’s hard. But God’s timing is not of our timing, just as his answers are not of our thinking. It may take 6 months, or it may take years, for God to answer a prayer. Just like waiting in line at the bank, we must be patient with God and we must continue doing His work. Ultimately, as He promised, we will inherit the blessings.

“Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land” Psalm 37:34

Christians Cannot Choose Who to Love

The local Bible study I am leading is studying the book of James this summer. As I have mentioned before, the book of James is a straight-forward, simple guide to Christian living. A great introduction for new believers and an excellent book to review and discuss with fellow believers. Try it sometime! In chapter 2, …
