Christian Living Prayer

Quiet Love

She lost her husband tragically. Her life was turned upside down.

I didn’t know what to say.

A year and a half later, she is diagnosed with cancer. She is left breathless and overwhelmed

I don’t know what to say.

What do you say to a dear friend who is hurting in ways you can only imagine? I could tell her I know how she feels. But I didn’t. It would be a lie. Encouraging words escape me. My heart hurts for her. My heart cries for the pain she is experiencing. My mind is stunned.

I don’t know what to say.

I do not have any profound words to say, but God does. I thought about what God said about facing troubles. We’ve shared scriptures reminding us that she is not alone. Yes, she has a large community of family and friends that love and support her through it all. BUT, we have a God that is bigger than anything we can do for her and bigger than all her pain and suffering. Our God is in control.

I don’t know what to say so I pray for her. I have prayed without ceasing for my dear friend and her sons since her husband’s death, and through the last 18 months of her facing life  without him. I am still praying for her now. I am praying for extra peace and strength as she faces this disease. I am praying for the healing and restoration of her heart, mind, and body. I thank God for her and her friendship.

Through all of this, God has reminded me that some times a person just needs my quiet love and support. This word girl is not required to always have words to say because God always has the RIGHT words.

Who needs your quiet love and prayers today?
Pray for them. Find them. Remind them that you love them but Jesus loves them more. Soak up God’s word together and let Him do the talking.

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26

  1. Thank you for this gentle reminder that words are not always necessary. Maybe just hugs are necessary:)
