Sunshine. Friends. Games. Picnic. It was a perfect summer day for outside fun and a cookout! What a great idea! Everyone was invited. Except me. But that is nothing new. I was not a popular kid growing up and I haven’t been a popular grown up. Maybe I should say, I have never been a …
Our culture defines success according to visible results, applauding only those who are enjoying wealth, prestige and power. While there is nothing wrong with prosperity, the true success of any accomplishment is when it is led by God’s hand. Some of the most successful people have followed God’s plan for their lives. They may have …
Ridicule. Slander. Harassment. Contempt. Mockery.
These are just a few of the deep cuts a servant’s heart can experience while serving God and others.
Not everyone is going to celebrate what we are called by God to do for the expansion of His kingdom. And that is okay. Our suffering is nothing compared to how Jesus suffered for us. When we are fully surrendered to God, we can suddenly see new dreams and ambitions born within our hearts by Him. And we can accomplish those dreams through Him.
As a Christ follower, it is my heart’s deepest desire to serve Him and others as He leads me. When we ask God to show us how to serve Him, the ways and places He reveals are amazing. In the different seasons of my life, God has led me to serve in very different roles: children’s ministries, teaching, choir, serving seniors, etc. None of which I was pre-qualified to do! Now I serve full-time in my home as a stay-at-home Nana and wife, and my outreach service is sharing Jesus with others through writing and speaking.
Where ever God has called you and I to serve, He has a specific responsibility for each of us. He never promised it would be easy. There will be naysayers, imitators, and the ones who will try to discredit us and our purpose. But, He did promise He would equip us with what we need to get the job done and He would be with us every step of the way.
We must remember it is not about us; it is about HIM. We must trust Him. And, we must be bold in love toward others, and in our service for Him; asking the Holy Spirit to guide us each moment of the day so that all we do, honors and glorifies God.
“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began” – 2 Timothy 1:7-9
GOOD MORNING! SMILE! God loves YOU! And that IS something to smile about! He gave YOU this beautiful Monday! God sent His son, Jesus to save YOU from sin and death! Yes, indeed, God loves YOU! Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a spiritual re-birth and eternal life can be ours. But we …
The local Bible study I am leading is studying the book of James this summer. As I have mentioned before, the book of James is a straight-forward, simple guide to Christian living. A great introduction for new believers and an excellent book to review and discuss with fellow believers. Try it sometime! In chapter 2, …
The last line of the beloved hymn “When I survey the Cross” by Isaac Watts, sums up our purpose: “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, My life, my all.” We are called by God to offer ourselves to Him as living sacrifices – not conforming to worldly desires but to devote all our …
Have you ever daydreamed of being part of something global, something for a good cause, something with a purpose? Well, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you ARE part of something big! It is something larger than our minds can fully comprehend without faith through the Holy Spirit. The Kingdom …
The entire book of James is a guide to Christian living. But it’s not solely intended for new believers. Mature Christians need to be reminded how to live because we can become complacent, discouraged and grumpy. Yes, it is true! We all fall short!
The world is in utter chaos. Governments cannot get along. Families cannot get along. Friends cannot get along. AND, God’s own people struggle to get along sometimes,
Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are supposed to be setting the example for the rest of the world to see. We are supposed to be reflecting the love and light of Jesus.
We must obey God. The Bible (God’s word) holds His instructions and promises for us.
While we cannot control how the rest of the world behaves, we can control our behavior and strive to be doers of the word. Let’s stop our petty debates and redirect our focus the things of God, serving Him and others.
God never promised us that His plan for our life would be easy to follow, but He did promise us abundant blessings along the way. Let’s pray to be stronger witnesses of God’s word and the good news.
Let’s be doers of His word.
The Holy Bible, the true word of God, tells us we are not accidents or happen-stances. We were purposely and wonderfully made by God, the creator of the universe. He knew us before we were born and He made us for his divine purpose.
“For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:13-14
This includes you. God created you. God loves you. He wants you to live in joy and free from the bondage of sin. God’s divine purpose for your life is to have a personal relationship with Him through his son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for your sins. And through that relationship, share the good news of Jesus with others, for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Ready or Not, He is coming back for us!
God’s word tells us Jesus is coming back soon!
My sincerest and deepest prayer is that all of my family, friends and readers are ready for Jesus. Are you ready for Jesus to come back?
What does it mean to be ready for Jesus?
God loves you more than you can comprehend and He wants to give you an immeasurable gift: salvation. All you have to do is profess Jesus as the son of God and King of Kings, confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and then, you will have eternal life! And when you experience the joy of living with Jesus, you will want to tell others the Good News!
If you believe Jesus died for you and you are ready to accept the gift of salvation, just pray:
Dear God, I know I am a sinner. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die for my sins. Please forgive my sins. I proclaim Jesus as my Lord and Savior and invite Him into my heart and life. Please direct my life according to your purpose. Thank you for giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN
If you made a decision for Jesus just now, please reach out to someone at your local church, a Christian family member or myself for prayer and direction as you begin your relationship with Jesus. God bless you!
Life is better with Jesus!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:12-14 (ESV)
Jesus was sent to live among men. HE was the PERFECT teacher, the PERFECT example, and ultimately the PERFECT sacrifice for ALL sins.
Jesus’ death on the Cross cleared the way for us to be saved and have eternal life; IF we will believe in HIM , repent our sins to HIM and accept HIM as our LORD & Savior!
Have you accepted God’s PERFECT gift: JESUS?
